Now you have to angle the blade towards the edge. Place it under the outside lip of the can. Carefully but forcefully puncture the lid with the blade deep enough for guard to rest on the rim of the can. Squeeze the arms together for a secure fit and start turning handle. Once you see the hole then you are half done.

You can use a can opener blade like the ones on a pocket knife to open up a can. Slant down the blade into the lid so as to puncture the top part of the rim. The hook on the blade is your fulcrum or the center of your seesaw. Angle the blade slightly so the pointed edge is on the inside of the top lip of the can. Continue cutting around the lid until you can lift it up and access the contents.
